u3. Differentiate between various E/M levels of service and correctly apply 2021 AMA E/M coding changes to ensure proper documentation and billing for primary care visits.

u4. Apply appropriate coding modifiers (e.g., -25, -59) to accurately reflect services provided, prevent claim denials, and maximize reimbursement while maintaining compliance.

Clinical Assistant Professor

Desirae Heys is a family nurse practitioner who has held clinical practices at WellOne Primary Medical and Dental Care and Providence Community Health Center. She previously served as an adjunct professor and an assistant clinical researcher with the URI College of Nursing. She teaches primary care nursing at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, with a focus on underserved populations and care at federally qualified health centers. She aims to utilize technology, simulation and population health outcomes to educate the next generation of nurse leaders.
